What is Holistic Yoga Therapy?

Yoga is holistic and healing in that it offers a wide variety of tools that promote health, healing, and transformation. Tools of yoga include, but are not limited to: postures, breathing techniques, meditation, gestures, use of sound, self-inquiry. A yoga therapist utilizes these tools to create unique practices to meet the needs and goals of a client. These practices are refined over time so that they continually meet a client where they are and encourage a client in the direction they want to grow.

A yoga therapist works with a client one-on-one to holistically address wellness. I am a yoga therapist, as well as mental health therapist. While I work with a variety of individuals of different ages and conditions, I specialize in helping people with depression, anxiety, various traumas, and coping with depression related to chronic medical and physical conditions.

Yoga therapists use the tools and practices of yoga to empower clients toward improved health and well-being through the use of postures, breathing practices, meditation, and lifestyle. Yoga therapists understand the multidimensional nature of the individual and work from the premise that the physical, energy, emotional, and spiritual levels are fully integrated and inter-related. In yoga therapy the ancient wisdom, tools, and techniques of yoga combined with traditional and contemporary best practices are adapted to each individual’s unique situation and health challenge with the goal of helping clients improve, maintain and optimize health.

Understanding that the mental and emotional states of individuals influence overall health, clients may also receive guidance to help shift attitude and perspective in relationship to life's challenges. Each individual is unique, and should be encouraged to progress at his/her own pace and comfort level.  As overall health and self-awareness improves, the ability to live a more balanced life is enhanced.

Yoga therapy can be used to address musculoskeletal issues such as lower or upper back pain, sciatica, headaches, carpel tunnel, and major joint pain.  Yoga practices can also be used to manage high blood pressure, arthritis, emotional challenges (such as depression, trauma, grief, and anxiety), fibromyalgia, and neurological disorders.

COST- $75

Your first Yoga Therapy session will consist of a full assessment and consultation. I will gather information about your health, nutrition, personal history, health concerns, and lifestyle practices. Depending on the information gathered in this initial intake I may elect to conduct a full postural assessment to identify any musculoskeletal imbalance that may be causing pain or contributing to your discomfort. Once the we have completed a full evaluation and assessment we will work in partnership to set goals for your therapeutic yoga practices based on your needs and my findings. You will leave your first session with an individualized plan to address your specific needs and that will support your journey to increased health and well-being.

Follow-up sessions: 60 minutes
Cost- $50

In your follow-up sessions, we will partner together as we integrate the following to support your goals:

  • a physical practice focused on body awareness and deliberate movements

  • mindful breathing exercises specific to the client's needs

  • meditation techniques, including God’s word

  • conscious relaxation practices

  • methods to release stress and achieve a sense balance and harmony

  • nutrition and emotional coaching and support

**Follow up sessions are purchased one month at a time in ensure we have positive momentum while working together.
**Willing to travel within DFW area or you can come to my in home studio
