“Love is something more stern and splendid than mere kindness.” - C.S. Lewis

“the light in the night. the harvest moon. the summer sky. wild and holy. that’s lillie.

there’s a heaviness we often carry.
in most ways, a gift.

to see things differently. to feel all the other parts.”

- Lauren Apel

In every story, at the intersection of beauty and brokenness, we find the depth of our humanity. It is the way of hope and brutal compassion that inevitably leads us home to our true self.

Nobody escapes being wounded. We are all wounded people, whether physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually. The main question is not, 'How can we hide our wounds?' so we don't have to be embarrassed, but 'How can we put our woundedness in the service of others?' When our wounds cease to be a source of shame, and become a source of healing, we have become wounded healers.
